Rebecca Seiferle is the editor of the international poetry magazine, The Drunken Boat, Her third poetry collection, Bitters (Copper Canyon 2001) won the Western States Book Award and a Pushcart Prize. Her second collection, The Music We Dance To, won the Hemley Award from the Poetry Society of America and a poem from the collection was included in Best American Poetry 2000 (Scribners, 2000). Her first collection, The Ripped-Out Seam (Sheep Meadow Press, 1993), won the Bogin Award from the Poetry Society of America, the Writers’ Exchange Award, and the National Writers’ Union Prize.
Her translation of Vallejo’s Trilce (Sheep Meadow 1992) was the only finalist for the PenWest Translation Award, and her translation of his The Black Heralds is forthcoming from Copper Canyon in Fall 2003. Her translations of Alfonso d’Aquino and Ernesto Lumbreras were included in Reversible Monuments (Copper Canyon 2001).
